Panther Press is a student-managed company that operates out of instructor David Wilson’s fifth period Marketing classroom. The company has developed a working business plan with a mission statement that reads: To publish Thirty Minutes West of Albany, sell 500 copies of the book and generate over $3,900 in profit. Meet the Panther Press Management Team

The Panther Press management team consists of the company’s CEO, Katherine Smeallie; CFO, Jordan Carter; Production Manager, Lewis Salone; and Marketing Manager, Jeannie Garcia. The Management team created the Company’s business plan and budget. They are also responsible for making sure all Panther Press employees have the resources necessary to perform their jobs and fully implement the strategies and specific tasks set forth in the company’s business plan. In addition, the management team monitors the performance of each department versus the assigned tasks and goals established in the business plan.

Meet the Panther Press Production Dept.

The Production department is responsible for converting the manuscripts of the five stories that comprise Thirty Minutes West of Albany, into the finished book. The department makes sure there are enough copies of the book on hand at all sales locations to handle projected and actual market demand. Two of the departments key responsibilities are cost control and quality control.

Meet the Panther Press Marketing Dept.

Marketing is responsible for developing a strategy that assures every person who could possibly want to buy a copy of Thirty Minutes West of Albany knows the book exists and is presented with an opportunity to purchase at least one copy. The Marketing staff identifies the market, designs and implements promotions, publicity and advertising for that market, maintains this Web site, finds and negotiates distribution for the book, and analyzes the effectiveness of each effort.
